§ 26. City attorney.

  • The commission shall appoint a city attorney, upon such terms and for such compensation as the commission may fix, who shall act as legal advisor to, and attorney for, the city and all of its officers in matters relating to their official duties, and shall prosecute and defend, for and in behalf of the city, all complaints, suits, and controversies in which the city is a party, and shall perform such other professional duties as may be required of him by the commission or others designated by the commission. The city attorney shall be an attorney at law, admitted to practice in the courts of Florida for at least ten years, five years of which must be with experience in some form of city, county or local government law. The commission may appoint such assistant city attorney as it may deem necessary.
